The Astronautical Art Initiative exists to change that. It is a research and archival platform dedicated to art made in and for space: cataloguing what exists, building the theoretical frameworks to understand it, and establishing the vocabulary to discuss it.

Space art is a genuinely new territory. One where the conditions of creation, the meaning of materials, and the relationship between the human and the cosmos are unlike anything in art history before. Yet the field remains fragmented, underdocumented, and largely absent from both art discourse and space policy. The Astronautical Art Initiative addresses that absence directly.
Through an ongoing archive of artworks and research, this non-profit organisation works to give space art the intellectual foundation it deserves - not as a curiosity at the margins of both worlds, but as a serious cultural dimension of humanity’s expansion beyond Earth.
